Refunds & Winter Season Update
Hi Devils,
This week we met with clubs, association and BVC officials to discuss the Winter 2020 season amongst other things. It was stressed that the Winter 2020 season was not cancelled, but only postponed until the corona virus crisis has passed. How this possible season would work has not yet been decided. The main point we came away with was that neither the WDABA or BVC will be refunding their portion of the fees except in exceptional/hardship circumstances. We at Drouin Devils disagree with this decision, it is our opinion that players have paid for a service that they have not received, and therefore are entitled to a full refund. Even if this proposed shortened season does go ahead fees should be reduced. BVC will extend insurance and service for whatever period basketball is suspended, that is if basketball is postponed for 6 months, the BVC coverage will be extended for an extra 6 months once basketball resumes. Again, we disagree with this decision as we believe many people may not play next season and will be out of pocket.
What we will do; Drouin Devils will request a refund of both the $83 WDABA fee, and the $25-$39 BVC fee and provide all necessary details to the appropriate body, but this now as much as we can do.
What you can do; You can email operations@warragulbasketball.org.au requesting a refund of your $83 WDABA fee, and the $25-$39 BVC fee (if you paid it) and stating your reasons. Please check your receipt to see what you paid.
A request for club fees to be refunded has been submitted some time ago and will be processed prior to the 14th May. Club fees were either $107 if you took advantage of the early bird discount, or $120 if you registered later. All players paid the $83 WDABA fee. Only players who did not play Summer 19/20 season would have paid the $25-$39 BVC fee.
We apologise for this inconvenience and assure you that we put forward our opinions and acted in what we believed was in the players and the club’s best interests. Hopefully we will be back playing basketball soon. Any questions please email teams.drouindevils@gmail.com.
